Samuel Nigro is a Guggenheim Fellow and a New York-based artist, who works with stone and video, who investigates agentic musings, contingent wanderings and the force of strategy through the motif of breaking stone, and who is expanding his attention to granite from around the world and the life cycles of the planet.

He received a MFA in Sculpture from the Art Institute of Chicago, a BA from the University of Notre Dame’s Great Books Program, and studied engineering and the pre-medical sciences at the University of Michigan.
